Cost Effective

Often less than half the price of Natural Stone

Even though these countertops resemble the look you would get from natural stone products like granite, marble and quartz, you won’t break the bank to get them in your house. Often the cost of our epoxy countertops is LESS THAN HALF the price. We will do you a favor here and share the BOTTOM LINE with you here so you won’t have to read to the bottom line (though we hope you will). Most of our countertops are available for $29.00 per square foot plus reasonable installation costs. Where else can you get the completely customizable look of natural stone while protecting your wallet from imploding.

Just $29.00 per square foot.

So, Just What Are Epoxy Countertops?

Well, we start by cutting a slab of MDF to the size and shape of your desired countertop. MDF is an abbreviation for “medium density fiberboard” and has a variety of uses in the furniture and building industry. It’s strong, dimensionally stable, and very flat and smooth. When properly waterproofed it is a very effective substrate for countertops. We can cut, shape and edge this product to your specific needs right on your site if need be, though we do most of that in our shop.

Once our slab has been sized and shaped to meet your needs we then give it two coats of a top quality paint to provide a base color. We allow that to completely dry and then sand it smooth. NOW is when the epoxy comes in. Epoxy is a two-part system that combines resin with a hardening agent both in a liquid form. The two parts are mixed together, along with any coloring additives that we choose, and then poured onto the MDF slab. We use a trowel to spread the product over the surface and then the fun begins. Using any numbers of techniques and tools we add colors to the epoxy to form the color designs you see in our gallery. Some designs are highly repeatable, others are one of a kind creations, but in the end they provide you unmatched flexibility in your color and design choices.

After our color and design have been applied we let that coat of epoxy dry, usually about 24 hours then apply a second coat of clear epoxy over the top. Once that is dry it will need to cure for several days, but the result is a thick coat (1/8” or more) of a gorgeous, hard, food safe surface that is scratch resistant, heat resistant, water repellant, UV resistant, easy to clean surface that will serve you well for years to come. Your kitchen or bathroom will be transformed by the luxurious look of stone all for a fraction of the price.

First, a quick disclaimer. None of these colors have any actual stone content, they are all epoxy creations made to resemble stone. So when you see a color name that says “Granite, Marble, Quartz” etc. that is just our name for the color. We took our design inspiration from a piece of stone and created a design that we think represents the real deal. That’s why we said at the beginning that these are “Countertop creations INSPIRED by stone”, and we can use your inspiration too. Maybe you want to change a color, or add a color, maybe you want more veining, or less. Just like in nature, no two pieces of these are ever identical, they are one of a kind creations. The color combinations are endless. Just because we have never done one in purple before doesn’t mean yours can’t be the first one. Just see if you can get that to happen in real stone! Oh and just because we said these aren’t real stone doesn’t mean they won’t fool you. Just wait until you see them in real life and touch them for the first time.

Why Choose Epoxy?

There are many features and benefits of epoxy.

  • Affordability.

If all you want is cheap then lumber yard laminate may be your choice but if you want to customize your layout and get the look of stone without breaking the bank this deserves a look. At $29 per square foot It’s a great combination of price and features.

  • Easy to customize.

Want a bump out at your sink? How about a kitchen island? Need an undermount sink? how about a 45 degree corner? If you said “yes” to any of these then lumber yard stock laminate is not your option. We can deliver these features and more. Not to mention all the customizable color choices.

  • Often a seamless appearance.

Need a mitered corner? No problem! How about a 12 foot long slab? We got ya covered! As long as it will fit through your door we can likely provide a countertop without seams. And if we do need to put a seam in the product we can choose a spot that suits your needs.

  • Special sizes, shapes, edges, corner designs, kick outs.

Because these are custom, made-to-order products we can accommodate many of your design needs with no trouble. We’re going to stop short of saying we can do anything but we can handle most anything you can throw at us.

  • Non-porous. Water and food doesn’t seep into pores in the surface.

  • That means the spaghetti sauce you spilled on the top doesn’t have to result in a nasty stain on the top. You won’t have to worry about bacteria harboring in the pores of your natural stone. The poured epoxy coating forms a non-porous barrier over the entire surface. No place for that nasty food to hide.

  • Food safe

The epoxy coating has been formulated for food contact. Droping a piece of chicken on the top or a few pieces of tomato won’t cause leeching into the food. Plus the epoxy we use is rated zero VOC’s.

  • Easy to clean

The non-porous surface also means it is easy to clean. Soap and water usually does the trick. Just don’t use harsh abrasives and solvents, those spell trouble on most all countertops.

  • Low Maintenance

Here’s the fine print, except we made it large enough to be read. No countertops are zero maintenance and these are no exceptions. Just take good care of them and they will last years. Don’t use it as a cutting board, most countertops don’t respond well to that. Even though it is heat resistant to 500 degrees we recommend that you put an oven pad or trivet under your hot items. We also recommend pads under heavy bowls and dishes. With that said, the maintenance on these is very limited. No yearly sealing or oiling is needed… ever.

  • Can be re-surfaced

So what is you do scratch the surface, or after a period of time you begin to notice scuff marks? Because the top coat is clear these respond very well to a light sanding and re-polishing. Matte finishes are particularly good for this. The glossy finishes are more difficult. We can help you with the re-polishing of these surfaces.
