These nylon tie-tack backs aren't unusual, except that I have had so many people asking for them!
The 'reef knot' and other pins often use 'butterfly' backs (far left, top) which fall off easily when used on uniforms, etc. It can be difficult to find replacement butterfly backs due to the thickness of the pin - most butterfly backs are made for earrings.
These backs (right, and on bottom) fit onto the reef knot pin, although it does take some effort to get it pushed on - and effort to remove, as well!.
